Monthly DCBS Pull - December 2025

Hello Readers,

Once again I'm trying to piggy back off my last post. In this case, I spoke to using DCBS (Discount Comic Book Service) to purchase my issues in advance in order to save money. I hope to make this an on going monthly post to help shine some light on notable issues, those being issues that stand out to me and may help you plan accordingly if something catches your eye. Just warning you all in advance this is completely IMO stuff but I try and keep an open mind when look over all the offerings. Mostly because those small in the corner issues that no one see's coming are fun to spot before they gain traction.

Prime example: Sacrificers 17 1:15.... Chuma Hill Cover... Released Nov 2025.

So note to self: Check those corners... I paid maybe 19 for this with my Sept DCBS order.

Remember be smart and don't go walking into your pre-order without a little organization else we'll find we're pushing a 200 $ cart pretty quickly. If we properly plan we'll use our money wisely.

Ok let's get started, first our toolbox checklist. {TOOLS}

1) Key Collector - Specifically I use the Keys and Future Keys look up menus.
2) CLZ - Comic book database, for tracking all our collection. I'm going to do a write up on this next.
3) DCBS - of course right...
4) Your target list - where we wrote down key books, series were after, our favorite artist / writers, 1st issues. Funny how easy it is to forget a big name and miss a nice issue.

Since this is my first go at this the flow will be a bit more elaborative in terms of steps and thoughts. In the future I'll work to make all of the above more straight forward and concise.

Head into DCBS and we'll just move our way down the preorder publishers list, starting with DC even thought Marvel seems to always have more offering than DC. Don't forget to use that dropdown and set it to 100 listings per page.

Key Collector shows the key books for this time frame to be releasing around the week of FEB 4th forward. Keep in mind not all the issues drop at the same time during the month span between the times I order. I buy my books once a month so I have to review multiple weeks to build out my target list. Once again, I typically buy between the 10th and 12th of the month given that's when I've found the issue rotation is nearly complete place between last month's offerings and the new issues coming out.

No covers revealed for these 2 atm but both these artist kill whatever they touch. Always on my hit list.

So I looked at everything that was visible at this point in the month, as the month moves forward new keys etc.. get updated to Key Collector and I monitor JIC. Some covers as observed, don't have an image so I base a bunch of decisions by favorite artist alone or I go into Key Collector and I do a search by the artist name to see their work. For instance I buy notable #1 issues period, it's one of my collection habits. If I'm going to pick up a #1 issue and all the cover artist are unknown to me I'll look up their work and choose off of that.

To checkout go up to your shopping cart and review it. Make sure of your counts and verify you didn't double tab or worse any issues. I can't even tell you how many times I get my order and I have two of an issue. This is the easiest place to make your changes and update or a good time to do a final walk through and purge any impulse buys. If you have a budget number this is where you trim the fat.

Once your good use the NEXT options at the bottom of the page to move forward. You'll get the option to buy bags and boards then on to the payment screen. This month was unique in that it provided me with a close out FCBD (Free Comic Book Day) pick up menu and allowed me to choose 8 issues that will be thrown in with this order. The last window we come to is a final review, I take a screen shot of this view for my full order and use that as my back and forth reference between months. As I keep an eye on stuff during the month if something is heating up or a new cover is revealed I head to my list to see if I nabbed a copy, if not there's still time up until the FOC deadline to make an addition to any orders that haven't finalized yet.

Lastly keep in mind that your total payment amount will be set but you do not get charged until they ship, which can be good or bad based on when it hits given you budgeted said time frame accordingly. One additional important note, during the month some issues may get canceled and DCBS will sent a refund notification and a reason why. Most of the time it's due to lack of orders over all and seems, to the artists dismay, they can have their issues dropped pretty close to the FOC deadline. I'll have to talk with an artist that's been there and lived that scenario to fully confirm my suspicion.
